We Are Always Looking For A Few Good Men and Women.  Are You Ready?

The New Hackensack Fire Company and the New Hackensack Fire District require that all "ACTIVE STATUS" members must meet the following requirements.  Please read these requirements thoroughly before downloading and printing the membership application.  You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to read the application.  If you do not have this, a free download of Acrobat Reader is available.  A shortcut is below for your convenience.

1.  "The minimum age for new applicants is 16 years of age.

2.  "Members must complete Firefighter 1 or Exterior Support Operations during the first
        year of their membership." (R&R 60.050)

3.  "...comply with the minimum requirements for the category of membership
        which they fall under."  (R&R 60.170) and (R&R 80.090).

1.  Fires & Emergencies

 

"...Active Fire Fighters....classified 'IN TRAINING' shall not be permitted to go below grade, above grade, or enter a burning structure until they have attended and completed....Fire Fighting Essentials."  (R&R 60.150)

 

A new member will be classified 'IN TRAINING' until either the NYS Basic or NKFD Fire Fighting Essentials is completed.

 

2.  Drills

 

"Regular training sessions shall be conducted on Monday mornings and evenings,....at prescribed times and locations."  (R&R 70.010)

 

"Any member wishing to retain 'Active Status' must attend the minimum requirements of pre-announced or posted department or district drills."  (R&R 70.040)

3.  Weekly Checkouts

 

"A weekly checkout of apparatus will be conducted each Monday morning  and each Monday evening."     (R&R 90.080)

 

"During weekly checkouts, each piece of apparatus shall be inspected and operated."  (R&R 90.090)

 

4.  Equipment Locations

 

"These drills are designed to verify that each member has a knowledge of the location of equipment on the apparatus. THIS IS a mandatory drill to retain active fire fighter status."  (R&R 70.080)
 

5.  Hose Test

 

An annual hose test will be conducted on a yearly basis.  It IS mandatory that all active fire fighters attend this function.  Hose testing will be conducted in accordance with NFPA specifications.  (R&R 80.090)
