Motor Vehicle Accident

March 31, 2005

New Hackensack was dispatched to a 2-car motor vehicle accident on Route 376 just east of Myers Corners Road intersection at 10:42 pm. Initially, it was reported that the vehicle was on fire with two occupants trapped, however there was no fire. Upon arrival, New Hackensack began extrication of the occupants while Town of Wappinger Ambulance began administering EMS support to the occupants. Both were transported ALS to St. Francis Hospital. Injuries were said to be non-life threatening. A third ambulance was requested to the scene to handle the third patient from the other vehicle, who received minor injuries. New Hackensack was also assisted by East Fishkilll Fire Department for traffic control and initially to a landing zone for a helicopter, which was cancelled after further evaluation was completed. The scene was investigated by the NYS Police. Apparently, the driver of the other vehicle swerved to avoid a deer and lost control of the vehicle. He then hit the second vehicle head on.  (Pictures by Bill Johnson)
