Structure Fire - 4 Marlyn Drive
July 7, 2007
At approximately 12:30 am on Saturday, New Hackensack Fire Department and Town of Wappinger Ambulance were dispatched for this confirmed structure fire. New Hackensack Asst. Chief Frank Paulo arrived minutes later finding the 2-story raised ranch fully involved. The occupant of the residence escaped without injury, however it was reported that she went back into the structure to remove her car from the garage, where she left the garage door open. She again entered the structure, but was removed by a neighbor. It was reported that nobody had called 911 until sometime after her being removed, giving the fire a significant head start. Asst Chief Paulo requested mutual-aid from the East Fishkill Fire Department with their F.A.S.T. team and a tanker, the Hughsonville Fire Department with a tanker and manpower, and additional tankers for water supply operations which assistance came from Chelsea and Glenham Fire Departments. Unfortunately, the hydrant system in the area was for "Flushing Only", therefore a tanker shuttle was set up. New Hamburg and Rombout Fire Departments provided station coverage during the incident. The fire was investigated by the Dutchess County Fire Investigation Team. (Photos courtesty of John Peters)
