Motor Vehicle Accident - Car vs. Tree

With heavy rains throughout the morning and afternoon, the indirect effects of Hurricane Jeanne caused problems on roads in the Town of Wappinger.  New Hackensack Fire Department and Town of Wappinger Ambulance were dispatched to this 1-car incident.  While driving on Myers Corners Road toward Route 9, the driver of this vehicle was unfortunately hit by rotting tree that had fallen due to the saturation of rain.  The tree came down, hitting the driver's windshield and then crushed the rear portion of roof, blowing out the rear window.  The driver was evaluated by ambulance personnel and was then taken home by a relative.
