Structure Fire - 20 Roberts Road

September 30, 2005

New Hackensack was dispatched to this house fire at 20 Roberts Road at 9:52 am.  Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire had vented itself through the roof over the dining/living room area.  Three lines were stretched with two entering the structure and one sent to the rear of the structure to cool down a propane tank on a BBQ grill.  Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire, however the truss construction of the roof was no match for the fire, collapsing prior to firefighters arrival.  While the bedrooms were saved from major damage, the two bathrooms, the kitchen, dining, and living room areas were destroyed. The basement sustained heavy water damage, however most of the tenants belongings were covered to protect them from being destroyed.  New Hackensack was assisted on the scene by Hughsonville Fire Department and Lagrange Fire Department was standing by at New Hackensack's station.
