322 Myers Corners Road
June 17, 2002
Just after 3:00 pm, New Hackensack responded to this structure fire
on Myers Corners Road. Upon arrival, members found a heavy smoke
condition. Ventilation turned out to be key in this attack.
The fire was caused when the homeowner was using a heat gun to remove the
exterior paint. Due to a crack, the heat gun ignited the wood interior
without the knowledge of the homeowner until it was too late. The
initial attack team went to the second floor, and after finding the seat
of the fire, made an aggressive attack and knocked it down before it spread
throughout the home. The second attack team extinguished a small
section of fire that had spread into the ceiling of the first floor bedroom.
30 members responded to the scene. Lagrange was requested to standby
in NKFD headquarters. A great job was done by all. While the
home sustained water and smoke damage, members quickly covered up many
of the occupants belongings with tarps.
