On Monday October 18th at approximately 1:15 a.m, New Hackensack Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 53 Fieldstone Blvd. with possible person trapped. Upon arrival, the fire department reported heavy fire ventilating out of the upstairs bedroom window. The department was immediately notified that all occupants were out of the building, however a search team was established along with an attack team to ensure everyone was evacuated safely. A second alarm was also requested upon arrival. Initial attack crews were able to immediately knock down the main body of fire, confining it to the bedroom, however heavy heat and smoke damage destroyed the other second floor rooms. A second residence, separated by a firewall, was searched for extension and found only minor smoke damage. Occupants of the second residence were asked to find temporary shelter for the evening until the Town Inspector was able to deem the home safe for occupancy. Thirty-four members of New Hackensack battled the blaze along with mutual aid assistance from Hughsonville and East Fishkill Fire Departments. New Hackensack was also assisted by the Town of Wappinger Ambulance and the Dutchess County Fire Investigation Team. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Fire Department was back in service by 5:30 a.m.
