Automatic Fire Alarm Dispatched
July 24, 2003 - 4:49 pm
New Hackensack was dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at the Wappinger's
Professional Building at 187 New Hackensack Road. Upon arrival, a
smoke condition was found in the hallway and a Dentist's office had heavy
black smoke puffing out of the corner of the door. A 1st alarm assignment
was requested. Upon gaining access to the office, the attack team
encountered a heavy black smoke condition and a small fire in the waiting
area. The fire was quickly extinguished and ventilation began to
remove the smoke condition. The smoke managed to use the air conditioning
ducts to spread throughout the office and the adjoining office. The
cause was determined to be an electrical malfunction behind the fish tank.
Thankfully, the destruction of the fish tank managed to suppress the fire
enough to cause minimal damage to the office, however much of the office
sustained heavy smoke damage.
