New Hackensack was dispatched at 11:47 a.m. to D.C. Airport for an
airplane carrying six passengers that had crashed on landing. The
Beech 58P overran the runway and went approximately 35 feet down an embankment
near Jackson Rd. It came to rest on the chain link fence that runs
the parimeter of the airport and just missed an airport approach light
tower. No injuries were reported and the runway was closed for approximately
5 hours while airport officials awaited the Federal Aviation Administration
to give authorization to remove the plane. Twenty-one members of
New Hackensack responded to the incident.
