1.000 INTRODUCTION

1.010 This manual provides the regulations that describe the duties and responsibilities of the Officers and Active Members of the New Hackensack Fire Department.

1.020 This manual is intended to be used for guidance and information for Fire Department personnel. Its purpose is to give Fire Department members a complete understanding of the rules, regulations, standard operating procedures, assignments, and general knowledge for proper conduct of a member of the New Hackensack Fire Department.

1.030 In service to the public, each member must remember that a firefighter’s first duty is to the citizens of the New Hackensack Fire District and is responsible for the protection of life and property at all times.

1.040 As with any guidelines provided for guidance and information to any group, there is always a number of finer points of a subject or circumstance that is not fully covered or overlooked accidentally and if this occurs, the clarifications on unclear or undefined subjects rests with the New Hackensack Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners and their decision will be final.
