35.000 EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR OFFICERS

35.100 The following courses or district approved equivalents are required to be appointed to the position of 2^nd Assistant Chief:

Before Second Lieutenant

Firefighter I and Firefighter II or

Basic and Intermediate Firefighter or

Firefighting Essentials, Initial Fire Attack, Firefighter Safety & Survival, and Fire Behavior Arson Awareness and Ladder Company Operations.

Hazardous Material First Responder Operations

Accident Victim Extrication Training

CPR

Before First Lieutenant

Emergency Vehicle Operators Course

Apparatus Operator - Pump

Instructional Techniques for the Company Officer

Introduction to Fire Officer

Before Captain

Fire Officer I

Incident Command System

Incident Safety Officer

Live Fire Training (1A)

Conducting Live Fire Evolutions (1B)

Before Second Assistant Chief

Fire Officer II

Legal Issues in the Volunteer Fire Service

Principles of Fire Investigation

This requirement is to take effect in January 1999. It is recommended that Company Officers follow the progression listed to complete the courses. The final decision for Chief Officers will be at the discretion of the Board of Fire Commissioners.
