SECTION IX

 

90.000       GENERAL DUTIES

 

90.010       Officers and members shall be responsible for their protective gear (helmet, coat, boots. bunker pants, hood, and gloves), pager or radio receiver, badge, and uniform, and when their membership in the department is terminated they shall return all district property to the Chief of the Department.

 

90.020       All officers and members are to remain at their duty assignments until properly relieved by a commanding officer.

 

90.030       Officers and members, when engaged in fires, emergencies, and drills, shall wear regulation protective gear, at the discretion of the Officer in charge.  All equipment must be kept clean and in good order.

 

90.040       While at the fire station members shall use the provided gear rack for the storage of their protective gear.  Such rack is to be utilized only when the member is in the station and not for prolonged storage.

 

90.050       Officers and members shall assist in cleaning apparatus and equipment after each response and to check that all apparatus and equipment is in good condition and repair for immediate use.

 

90.060       All hose and tarps will be washed and dried after each use as needed. Once dry the equipment will be placed in service on the apparatus.

 

90.061       All hose will be tested and recorded in the log annually.

 

90.070       All officers and members operating a fire radio, portable radios from mobile units or the base station, shall strictly observe regulations for such operations as set forth by Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response and the Federal Communications Commission.

 

90.080       A weekly checkout of apparatus will be conducted each Monday morning and each Monday evening. Any requests for a substitute checkout must be approved by the District Maintenance Chief

 

90.090       During weekly checkouts each piece of apparatus shall be inspected and operated. All forms pertaining to this activity shall be provided by the district and will be completed during this activity.  The duty officer shall ensure that the record of the checkout including attendance has been recorded in the computer.
